9:00 am 10:00 am FACETS:public/Feasibility Assessment/Autocratic Chief Engineer FACETS:public/Feasibility Assessment/Pughs Method Dr. TBD Pugh's Method is a quick and easy way to focus attention on promising concepts arising from the morphological chart.
10:00 am 11:00 am FACETS:public/Feasibility Assessment/Weighted Method Dr. TBD The wieghted Method is slightly more sophisticated, and allows the development team to assess design alternatives ona relative merit basis, while accounting for differences in importance of certain features and attributes.
11:00 am 12:00 pm FACETS:public/Feasibility Assessment/Set Based Concurrent Engineering Dr. TBD At this early stage in your product development process, you are likely able to identify a number of concepts worthy of further investigation. While the team may haved some obvious preferences, the intent here is to look for a small family of potential solutions to important subsystems of your project.
12:00 pm 1:00 pm Cross team collaboration Dr. TBD Use this hour to compare notes with other design teams in the class. Determine if some subsystem concepts can be pursued jointly, or perhaps one team can take on concept exploration of one idea while another team explores a second idea, and thus leverage the time and resources of others.
1:00 pm 2:00 pm Lunch Break None Take your lunch break, and be sure to be back and ready to reconvene at 2:00 pm
2:00 pm 3:00 pm Work Breakdown Structure Dr. TBD During this hour, each team should have identified several concepts for various subsystems worthy of further investigation. The team should develop a set of outcomes desired from each investigation that should be accomplished during the next week, so that the group can move forward with decision making next week. Prepare a matrix of tasks to bed accomplished by each team member, with expected due date and responsibilities.
3:00 pm 4:00 pm Project Team Summaries Dr. TBD Each team has 4 minutes to make a presentation on their proposed work breakdown structure. Detailed results should be posted by each team on their public website as the next week progress, so that other teams can continue to build off of your ideas.
